I just got an idea. You could configure.ADDL = BROADCAST_ADDRESS;
configuration.ADDH = BROADCAST_ADDRESS; set and you will receive all messages of a channel (monitoring feature). Now I can decide whether to send the message again. Would it work? In this case I would not use the repeater mode. Or am I wrong?

Hello Renzo. Thank you for your quick feedback. The wiring looks like this:

E220 ESP32
—- —–
GND > GND
VCC > 5V
AUX > NONE / FLOATING
TXD > 16
RXD > 17
M1 > GND
M0 > GND

What I also noticed is that I cannot set a key for either module via the USB adapter. If I enter a value and click on set, I get a success – if I read in the data again, the key entry is 0 again. This happens with both modules. If I change the channel it works without problems. Is that normal? Maybe the modules are broken?
